PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Brandon Tells His Story . . . is a high school, middle school and college orientation program that features Brandon Silveria, a permanently disabled youn man who crashed his car after drinking at a party when he was 17.  Brandon and his father Tony, tour America's schools to educate students - close to 3 million to date - about the dangers and consequences of underage drinking.  Also in an effort to reach as many young people as possible a 30-minute video and accompanying classroom activity guide was created.  Three video messages focusing on back-to-school, spring break, and prom/graduation are avaiable to keep Brandon's story alive throughout the school year.  The video has won a number of prestigious honors . . . including the educational fields CHRIS award and a FREDDIE first-place in the American Medical Association's interna-tional Health & Medical Film Competition.

Tony's Tips . . . as a compliment to the Brandon Tells His Story program, Tony Silveria has begun speaking to parents to stress the importance of talking to their teens about making the right choice about underage drinking.  Tony distributes tips to help parents facilitate conversa-tions with teens about the consequences and risks of underage drinking.  The "Tony's Tips" parents brochure also features a "Get Home Safe" card for parents to cut out and give to their teen with tips on how to say NO to alcohol.  A downloadable version of the brochure is available on line at www.maketherightchoice.info.
